Jean Sanford Replinger Celebration of Life
- Saturday, April 12, 2025 starting at 11:00 a.m. - 12:00 p.m. with lunch to follow
- Upper Level Conference Center at Southwest Minnesota State University
- Please RSVP if you are able to join us. While all comers are welcome whether you RSVP or not, getting a head count will allow us to plan lunch more precisely with the SMSU Culinology Hospitality Program and campus food service.
Jean Replinger was a Health and Physical Education professor at SMSU from 1969 to 1996 and after retirement, continued as an adjunct faculty member for several years. During her time at SMSU, Jean was very active on campus and a strong advocate for outdoor education and recreation. Below are the links to the article about her in the Marshall Independent as well as the link to her obituary.
Additionally, we invite you to:
- Bring a memory or memorabilia that you’d like to share with guests. Tables of memorabilia will be on display and extra tables will be provided for those of you who want to share a special moment with others before the celebration and during lunch.
- Bring your musical instruments and voices. During lunch we’ll have a light-n-lively rendition of Happy Trails with our impromptu community band (all of you) reminiscent of the Blue Hills xc ski gatherings and our Bruce, WI grocery store band.
- If you plan to stay in Marshall overnight, some of us may go hiking and birding in Camden State Park or the surrounding area on Sunday, April 13. These plans will be spontaneous and loosely organized.
- On Tuesday morning, April 15, at Jean’s request, we’ll inter half of her cremains at Riverside Cemetery in Ladysmith, WI, next to her husband Randy. The remaining ashes will be scattered in her beloved Flambeau River northeast of town.
